The new version supports the ability of creating parameterized reports  which has been requested by many customers. With  parameterized reports, your users can change the output of generated reports based on the parameters values they enter  before previewing the reports, for example you can easily create a sales report by date range where each user can define the date range they want to see.

To generate a parameterized report from your MySQL database using smart report maker, all you need to do is the following two steps :

1. In the filters page, of the report builder wizard please select the filters you want then click the “Ask users” button instead of entering the filter value(s) as shown in the following screen .
   
2. Click the “Add” button to save the dynamic filters you have just added.

That’s it, now when users open your reports they will first see the following  “parameters” dialogue to add the values they want for the parameters which you defined for them.

Then once they click the “RUN” button, the  report will be displayed in a filtered mode according to the values they entered in the parameters dialogue, then if they want to enter other values all they need to do is clicking the “Filter” icon in the tool bar of the generated reports and the parameter dialogue will be displayed to them.

Using this version, you can combine multiple parameter for the same report, and they all will appear to your users in the same dialogue to use any or all of them as in the following image
